Our goal is to develop and co-ordinate a range of supports and initiatives aimed at assisting individuals and groups to access training, enhance employment opportunities, and develop enterprises. |

One to One Support to Long-term Unemployed People |

The LCRL Employment Mediator provides a mentoring service
for long term unemployed people, which involves one to one career path
development for people wishing to access employment, education and training. |

Education & Training Grant Scheme |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
This scheme is designed to assist long term unemployed people who wish
to return to work to access and participate in training and education
initiatives through provision of financial support. It is a requirement
that applicants are in receipt of a social welfare payment for twelve
months before application. |

Training & Pre-Employment Courses |

Through these courses, we aim to support long-term unemployed people or farm families on low incomes to improve skills and employment capacity through education, skills training, career planning and advice. This is a joint action between Longford Community Resources Ltd, the Department of Social Protection , FAS, the EDI Centre for the Unemployed and the County Longford VEC. The courses are held in rural and urban areas of County Longford. |

The EDI Centre for the Unemployed operates a FAS CE Scheme, a FAS Jobs Club, and is where the Longford Community Resources Ltd Employment Mediation Officer is located. The services provided include training, CV preparation, interview skills, liaison with employers, etc., all aimed at supporting unemployed people into employment. Mentoring is available to participants on the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance Scheme in terms of business plans, end of year returns and book-keeping skills.
